  • Tickle Me Kitty Cat Mirrors

    These cute little Tickle me kitties were inspired by my Halloween project of Witches and Kitties.  I painted a couple of kittens playing with the fortune-tellers globes and it gave me the idea to make frames for mirrors with similar kitties. 

    These cat mirrors are created from light-weight, but tough-as-nails, paper mache,’ which are baked in a food-drying oven, sanded smooth and hand painted.  

    They are about 11″ tall x 9″ wide and 1/2 inch thick.

  • Karmic Black Cats with Spiral Tails

  • Artist of the Month: October

    What could be more fitting than to have paintings of witches and kittens on display for witching month?

    We put up over 40 paintings for show at the 2nd Street Art Gallery last Friday.

    I’ve been painting furiously for this event since last March and have fallen so in love with my witches and cats that now I don’t want to sell them. What sort of business enterpreneurship is this? Don’t ask me, I’m just the artist. LOL

    The last time I painted anything on canvas was 1983, so to have churned out 48 paintings in 6 months, plus hundreds of wooden cookie Halloween ornaments was nearly an exausting marathon.

    My photos don’t do these images any good as my camera is not professional.

    Am in the process of connecting with a pro to get some good shots for selling prints and making puzzzles later.

  • National Cat Day

    The most famous cat in the history of science is Schrödinger’s cat. 

     In 1935 the physicist Erwin Schrödinger used the idea of a cat in a box as a thought experiment to explain the theory of quantum mechanics.  Without actually viewing the cat there is no way to tell whether the cat is live or dead.

    While creating the Sweetie Pie Kitty Karma Carrier ornaments I developed a Schrödinger’s cat ornament.

  • Sweetie Pie

    Sweetie Pie was an old grey cat that came to me somehow as a kitten.  She was an indoor/outdoor cat who was an excellent mouser and survived bad neighbors, and dogs for nearly 20 years.  

    We had her spayed but when she was around 5 years old, we brought home a black kitten, named Little Girl, that she instantly took under her wing and taught everythig she knew.  

    She was the matriarch cat of the family and ruled with an iron paw.  

    When she died, I created a series of images to commemorate her existence.  At first these were colorbook pages for children to print and color but eventually I began making Sweetie Pie paper mache ornaments.
